Songs of Sustenance
With Maggie Wheeler and Arnaé Batson
Date: Sunday, October 15, 2023
Time: 10:00am – 1:00pm
Together with our facilitators, Arnaé Batson and Maggie Wheeler, we will embark on a vocal journey to investigate the vibrational power of song, including pieces that have been sung through the ages during times of struggle, resistance, and triumph.
As facilitators and collaborators, Arnaé Batson and Maggie Wheeler create a dynamic vocal journey for all to share. In this workshop, the group will gather together in the ancient practice of singing as a community. Our song leaders work in oral traditions, teaching songs of joy and healing by call and response. Together, they make music accessible to beginners and experienced singers alike.
Through the creation of song, harmony, and rhythm, participants become inspired, energized, and connected to one another. The physical act of singing and being bathed in the vibrations of the music relieves tension and creates a sense of wellbeing that lasts far beyond the moment. Making music in this way is the ultimate co-operative experience. Participants experience the success of working as a group and creating something magnificent together, resulting in a sense of interconnectedness and joy.
When we join our voices in this way, healing is possible, courage is accessible, and connections are deepened.
Note: This program takes place indoors in the Council House, which is a well-ventilated space with several windows and fans.
